About VIEW3D

VIEW3D is a free online 3D model viewer and converter operated by DOTECH. Viewing, measuring and converting models requires no signup or payment. It provides a place to inspect CAD and mesh files without installing desktop software or creating a viewer account.

From a file to an inspection

Open a local model, rotate it to understand its shape, then check dimensions, sections, volume and surface area. CAD files support face and edge selection. Mesh files support approximate point-to-point measurements. Wall thickness analysis helps highlight thinner areas of an imported model.

Files remain on your device

Local design files are read and processed in your browser. VIEW3D does not upload them to an application server. Display settings and cached results may be stored in your browser so that repeated work is faster. See our privacy information for details.

Convert and download

After opening a model, choose Convert / Export in the top bar. Download STL, OBJ, PLY, GLB, embedded GLTF or OFF. Select the source unit, output unit and up axis; GLTF and GLB use meters and Y-up. Export all parts or a selected mesh part. Files are converted on your device.

Exports use the original static geometry, without exploded positions, measurement lines or thickness colors. Mesh exports do not preserve exact CAD surfaces. STL has no unit metadata; STL, OBJ and OFF do not preserve textures. Animation and native CAD output are not supported.

2D projections and PNG

Convert / Export also saves the current 3D view as PNG or an A4 image PDF and creates front, top and right projections as DXF, PDF or PNG. DXF retains the chosen units. PDF and PNG fit the drawing to a page. These are projected mesh feature edges, including hidden edges, with segmented curves and no automatic dimensions or tolerances. DWG is not supported.

Supported workflows

STEP, STP, IGES and BREP are useful for CAD geometry inspection. STL, OBJ, GLB, GLTF, 3MF, FBX, PLY, DAE, 3DS, AMF and WRL support mesh viewing. Some multi-file formats require related material, texture or buffer files to be selected together.
